Local events and fairs
The Mag One D8 can remain as a reference for an existing fleet. The analysis must consider programming, coverage, physical condition and availability of proven components.
Technical reference for the Motorola Mag One D8
The Mag One D8 was discontinued. Motorola Solutions’ official lifecycle tool records the cancellation of the Brazilian variant LAH85EDJ8AD3BB on August 13, 2024 and lists the X10D as its successor. This page remains as a reference for identifying, programming and assessing existing units. It does not present the model as new equipment and does not promise future availability.
Unit identification
The commercial name, label, band and programming file must be checked together. The datasheet lists UHF operation from 403 to 470 MHz, with 1 or 4 W power. The radio has 16 channels and works in DMR Tier II or in analog mode. An older unit may have been programmed for a specific network. Changing channels without preserving the known file can break interoperability with other radios.
Power and documented battery life
The listed lithium-ion battery is 1,700 mAh. The manufacturer states up to 15 hours in digital and up to 12 hours in analog on the 5/5/90 cycle. These results belong to the test condition. Age, temperature, number of transmissions, volume and battery condition change the observed duration. On an older fleet, the installed part must be identified and tested before any conclusion about battery life.
Construction and environment
The body measures 107 by 58 by 37 mm and weighs 310 g with the lithium-ion battery. The rating is IP54 and the published operating temperature ranges from minus 30 to plus 60 degrees Celsius. IP54 does not allow submersion. Covers, sealing, the two-pin audio connector, antenna and latches must be inspected, since physical wear can change the observed protection over the years.
Audio and interface
The published audio output is 500 mW at 24 ohms. The radio has no screen. Operation uses a channel selector, volume control, two programmable buttons and audible alerts. The published capacity includes up to 128 contacts. Since the unit depends on programming, the channel label and the usage procedure must accompany the team’s documentation.
Accessories with official proof
Four items are shown because they have a code, D8 compatibility and an individual official image: PMLN6534, PMMN4092, PMLN6531 and PMLN6542. The first is an in-ear earpiece with microphone and PTT. The PMMN4092 is a remote speaker microphone. The PMLN6531 is an over-the-ear earpiece, and the PMLN6542 is a lightweight headset. Even with documentary proof, the connector and the unit’s physical condition must be checked.
Succession without mixing accessories
The X10D appears as the successor in the lifecycle tool, but that does not mean the battery, charger, antenna and accessories are automatically interchangeable. Each reference must be checked on the corresponding product page. A migration must map channels, groups, power, audio accessories, charging routine and team procedures.
Service checklist
- Photograph the unit’s label and serial number.
- Record the band, channels and known programming file.
- Identify the battery, charger, antenna and connected accessory.
- Test transmission, reception, audio and controls.
- Inspect the two-pin connector, cover and latches.
- Compare observed battery life with the battery’s condition.
- Document any replacement by part code.
Decision for an existing fleet
When the fleet still meets the operation’s needs, maintenance must preserve traceability. When parts, batteries or units stop supporting use, the succession analysis must consider the entire network. The goal is not to claim automatic equivalence, but to identify what must be reprogrammed, replaced or tested.
Limits of this reference
The published figures describe the product under the conditions of the official documentation. They do not prove the condition of a used unit. Physical inspection, electrical testing, reading the programming and a communication test are necessary for a diagnosis. The Mag One D8 must be treated as a discontinued product and as part of a legacy fleet.
