Features explained

More than a list of acronyms, each feature of the BD506 has a practical effect on your operation:

Digital DMR + analog (migration)

The BD506 operates in digital DMR and conventional analog. Integration with existing radios depends on the same frequency band, compatible programming and adopted features; it is not automatic for the entire fleet.

Clear digital audio in noise

Digital audio encoding and correction help maintain intelligibility. Communication still depends on signal level, coverage and noise on site; there is no guarantee of clean audio at any point.

48 channels and 3 zones

The Hytera BD506 has 48 channels organized in 3 zones and does not have a display.

Voice channel announcement

The voice channel announcement informs the channel in use when switching; you operate without needing to look at the radio, which compensates for the lack of a display.

Dual Time Slot (TDMA)

DMR uses two time slots in the 12.5 kHz channel. The use of these slots for separate conversations depends on the operating mode, configuration, and network equipment.

IP54 and MIL-STD-810 Robustness

IP54 protection and MIL-STD-810G compliance for professional use, according to the official BD50X page.

VHF and UHF Bands

The Hytera BD506 was released in VHF versions from 136 to 174 MHz and UHF from 400 to 470 MHz.

Shift-long battery life (up to 22 h)

The data sheet indicates up to 22 hours in digital with the 2000 mAh BL2018, or 16 hours with the 1500 mAh BL1506, in a 5/5/90 cycle at high power. Size batteries and recharges according to actual use.

Compact and lightweight

Compact body of 108 × 54 × 29 mm and approximately 240 g with AN0435W09 antenna and BL1506 battery.

Yes: IP54 protection (dust and splashes) and MIL-STD-810G military standard.

Up to 16 hours with the BL1506 (1500 mAh) or 22 hours with the BL2018 (2000 mAh), in digital, 5/5/90 cycle and high power. Effective time varies with usage, settings, and battery condition.

5 W in VHF and 4 W in UHF (low power of 1 W available).

Digital processing helps with intelligibility, but the result depends on noise, signal, and the accessory used. For noisy areas, evaluate the audio with the team in the work environment.
Check the unit’s homologation and the applicable regulations for operation. Homologation does not replace licensing stations or authorizing radiofrequency use when required. Services and responsibilities must be included in the proposal.

BL1506 and BL2018 batteries, VHF and UHF antennas, remote speaker microphone, individual and multi-unit chargers, earpieces, and programming cable. ABC provides the official Hytera line.

Compatibility needs to be evaluated. Band, frequency, programming, signaling, and digital features must match; operating in DMR and analog does not guarantee integration with any radio.
