Frequently Asked Questions
We have gathered the questions most frequently received by our support team about two-way radios, rental, licenses, technical assistance and commercial terms. The answers follow manufacturer information and how ABC Mais Telecom serves businesses in the ABC Paulista and Greater São Paulo regions.
Equipment and technologies
Differences between analog and digital, frequency bands, real-world range and data network use: the essentials for choosing equipment without relying on ready-made promises.
What is the difference between digital and analog radio?
Analog transmits voice through a continuous signal; digital encodes it as data. With digital, error correction can reduce noise and keep voice clearer near the coverage limit. Features such as identification, messaging and location depend on the model and system. Digital does not mean unlimited range. Source: Motorola Solutions
Can a digital radio communicate with an analog radio?
Yes, if the digital model also offers analog mode and the channel is programmed in that mode. Both must operate on compatible frequencies and parameters. An analog-only radio does not decode a digital transmission. On the MOTOTRBO R2, for example, each conventional channel can be configured as analog or digital. Source: Motorola R2 Manual
Can a two-way radio work with a cellular SIM card?
Compatible PoC models can use a data SIM card and the operator’s network for PTT communication; some also use Wi-Fi. This requires coverage, data service and the corresponding platform. A standard VHF or UHF radio does not start using cellular service simply by receiving a SIM card. The Hytera PNC360S is an example of a PoC radio. Source: Hytera PNC360S Data Sheet
What is the difference between VHF and UHF?
They are different radio frequency bands. In professional applications, VHF is often considered for open areas; UHF is frequently used in buildings and urban environments. No band is best for every location: terrain, obstacles, antennas, interference and authorized frequencies influence the choice. Radios on different bands do not communicate directly with each other. Can I communicate over a distance of 5 km?
It may be possible, but the radio model alone does not guarantee that distance. Terrain, buildings, antenna height and installation conditions change coverage. Rather than promising kilometers, the best approach is to assess the route and test on site. A repeater can extend planned coverage; PoC can serve longer routes where a data network is available. Services and assistance
How sales, rental, support and specialized technical assistance work at ABC Mais Telecom.
Do you sell or rent two-way radios?
Both. We sell and rent Motorola Solutions and Hytera two-way radios, as well as accessories such as batteries, earpieces, clips, bases and antennas.
Do I need an Anatel license to use a rented radio?
No. For rentals, the use of frequencies licensed by Anatel is already included by ABC Mais Telecom. Your company does not need to obtain a license.
If I buy the radios, do I need an Anatel license?
Not all two-way radios require an Anatel license. The requirement depends on the equipment and how it is used, and we advise you on your situation in the quote.
Do I need an Anatel license?
It depends on the equipment, band and use. Operations on licensed frequencies require the applicable regulatory compliance. Restricted-radiation equipment may be exempt from licensing if it meets Anatel’s technical conditions. This exemption does not eliminate certification requirements. Check the applicable classification before buying or programming the radio. Source: Anatel
Do you provide technical assistance for radios?
Yes. We offer specialized technical assistance, including preventive maintenance, corrective repairs and programming of radios and repeaters.
What happens if I need support?
Contact our team and provide the model and the problem observed. For rentals, assistance follows the terms agreed in the proposal. For customer-owned equipment, assistance begins with screening and technical assessment before service approval.
Can I include an extra battery and accessories in the rental?
Provide the usage time, number of people and environment. Additional batteries, earpieces, cases and the need for repeaters can be considered in the proposal according to the operation. The equipment package and service terms are defined in the quote.
Where do you provide rental services?
Rental serves São Paulo city and the metropolitan region, with daily, weekly or monthly plans.
Commercial terms
Price, lead time and scope vary with the project. See how we request and send quotes.
How much does a radio or rental cost?
Pricing is available upon request because it depends on the model, quantity, period and accessories. Request a no-obligation quote.
How does the quote process work?
You describe your needs in a quote request with your name, phone number and email address. The sales team responds with recommended models, delivery terms and proposal validity. Sending the request does not create an obligation to purchase.
Which brands do you work with?
We are an authorized Motorola Solutions and Hytera reseller, offering portable radios, mobile radios, repeaters and accessories.
