Hytera radiocommunications from radio to system
From condominium gatehouses to industrial operations, Hytera’s range covers radios, infrastructure and video for professional teams.
Who is Hytera
Hytera is a professional radiocommunications equipment manufacturer operating globally, present in more than a hundred countries, with ranges for businesses, security and public services. In Brazil, Hytera radios are used in industry, logistics, property security, condominiums, hotels, events and mining. The company works with major digital radio standards such as DMR and TETRA, and with PoC and hybrid radios combining conventional radio with LTE networks.
For business buyers, this means sourcing from one brand the handheld radio, the repeater extending coverage, the vehicle’s mobile radio, the PoC radio for teams across cities and the security body-worn camera. A single supplier for radios, infrastructure and video simplifies compatibility, programming and maintenance, and makes expansion easier: the company starts with a few Hytera radios and adds repeaters, PoC radios or cameras as operations require, maintaining the same group structure and the same technical team looking after everything.

How to choose the right Hytera radio
The table relates common needs to Hytera two-way radio families. It is a starting point for discussing requirements with the technical team:
| Need | Suggested family | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| General use, controlled costs | Entry-level BP range | BP516, BP566 |
| Compact and light | Compact handhelds | PD366, PD406 |
| Patrol management | Handheld with RFID reader | PD416 |
| High noise and intensive use | HP range with AI audio | HP506, HP606, HP686 |
| Harsh environments | High-protection HP range | HP706 (IP68), HP786 |
| Teams in multiple cities | PoC over cellular networks | P50 Pro, PNC460, PNC660 |
| Radio and broadband in the same device | DMR and LTE hybrid | PDC680 |
Frequency band (VHF or UHF), compatibility with the existing fleet and protection rating also factor into the choice. See UHF or VHF: which band to choose.
Hytera DMR: digital with analog coexistence
Most Hytera handheld radios operate on the Hytera DMR standard, which is open and used by several manufacturers, and also in analog mode. Digitally, audio remains clear close to the coverage limit, battery life increases and group and private calls, messages and alerts are available, depending on the model. Analog mode allows communication with older radios in the same band during migration.
Because DMR is an open standard, Hytera radios and those from other manufacturers can communicate digitally in many configurations, provided the band and programming are compatible. This is checked in the proposal, based on the existing fleet’s brand and model.
Hytera PoC, hybrids, mobile radios, repeaters and cameras
Besides DMR handhelds, Hytera’s range includes equipment for coverage, fleets and video recording:

PoC with Android 12, color screen and camera.

Rugged PoC, Android 12, LTE, Wi-Fi and IP68.

PoC and MCX with 5G, Android 14 and Wi-Fi 6E.

DMR and LTE hybrid, Android 10 and IP68.

DMR and analog mobile radio, up to 50 W.

1U rack repeater, 5 to 50 W, DMR and analog.

Compact 10 W or 25 W repeater, with optional battery.

Local recording and live video over 4G.
See all repeaters on the page for repeaters and cameras on the page about body-worn camera. For dispatch and management, Hytera offers platforms such as Smart Dispatch Plus and the HyTalk.

Hytera radios for security and patrol management
In property security, the Hytera PD416 combines a digital radio with a built-in RFID reader: guards hold the radio near tags installed at patrol checkpoints, and records stay on the device itself, without a separate patrol wand. With Patrol System, records can be monitored in a patrol management system. For video recording, Hytera body-worn cameras complete the solution, and radio emergency buttons alert the control center in an incident, depending on the model and programming.
When to use Hytera PoC or hybrid radios
Conventional radios communicate directly with other radios and, with a repeater, cover a building, plant or neighborhood without relying on a mobile operator. PoC radios use the mobile network to reach teams across cities, provided there is coverage and data: the choice for fleets, field technicians and companies with distant units. Hybrids such as the PDC680 combine both: DMR communication within the plant and LTE when teams leave radio coverage, plus running apps. See PoC two-way radio: how it works and when to use it.
Mixed fleets: migrating from analog to Hytera DMR
Companies with older analog radios can modernize in stages. Hytera digital radios are programmed with analog channels to communicate with the old fleet and digital channels to communicate with one another. As older radios leave service, the whole fleet moves to digital, with better audio, longer battery life and more features. Planning is included in the proposal, based on the existing radios’ brand, model and band.
How many radios and batteries to buy
Start with the people who need to talk at the same time on each shift. Add a reserve for maintenance and, in 24-hour operations, spare batteries for those who talk throughout the shift and multi-unit chargers to organize charging. With this list, the technical team finalizes the number of Hytera radios and accessories in the proposal.
Sectors using Hytera radios
- Property security: patrols with RFID, emergency buttons and body-worn cameras.
- Condominiums: gate staff, patrols and maintenance with simple, well-programmed radios.
- Industry: HP range with AI audio and high protection for noise and dust.
- Logistics: battery life for long shifts and repeaters for large warehouses.
- Hospitality and retail: compact radios and discreet earpieces.
- Events: production and security with separate groups and spare batteries.
Discontinued Hytera models
Well-known models such as BD506 have been discontinued in Brazil; the recommended replacement is BP566. ABC maintains reference pages, technical service and accessories for those still operating older radios, and recommends the current replacement when the fleet needs to grow. Also see BD506 digital radio: features and applications.
Original Hytera accessories
Original batteries, single- and multi-unit chargers, earpieces, lapel microphones and antennas are on each radio’s page, in the compatible accessories section, with item codes. Compatibility is checked in the proposal because a similar connector does not guarantee an accessory will fit another model.
Why buy from an authorized Hytera reseller
Buying Hytera radios from an authorized reseller ensures official-range equipment, type-approved for Brazil, with an invoice and warranty under the manufacturer’s terms. ABC Mais Telecom received Hytera Wings recognition in 2023, 2024 and 2025; the photograph of the 2023 award is on the page about company.
How buying from ABC Mais Telecom works
You do not need to arrive with a model already chosen. For buying Hytera radios, the starting point is the operation:
- Describe the use: how many people, environment type, whether there is noise, basements or open areas, and whether the company already has radios.
- The technical team suggests options: models, accessories and, if needed, a repeater or system, explaining the differences.
- Receive the proposal: equipment, accessories, services and commercial terms in writing.
- Radios are programmed with operational channels and groups before delivery.
- After purchase, specialist technical service handles maintenance, repair and reprogramming.
Delivery times and availability of each model are confirmed in the proposal.
Technical service for Hytera radios
The technical service team at ABC Mais Telecom diagnoses, repairs, programs and carries out preventive maintenance on Hytera radios, including discontinued models still in use. Having the same company handle sales, programming and maintenance keeps group configurations consistent across all radios and each device’s history recorded.
Hytera dispatch, management and networks
As operations grow, Hytera radios can be integrated with dispatch and management platforms. Smart Dispatch Plus brings voice, location and messages to the control center; HyTalk connects PoC radios and smartphones; HALO PTX provides communication and management as a service. For large mission-critical networks, Hytera also works with the standard TETRA. These projects start with a technical survey; see the page about communication systems.
Test before buying the whole fleet
For large fleets, it is worth testing the selected Hytera radio at the operation’s most difficult points before finalizing quantities: the basement, back of the warehouse, machinery room and property boundary. Testing shows whether direct radio-to-radio communication is enough or a repeater is needed, and helps decide between UHF and VHF. Talk with the sales team about arranging this test.
Care to help radios last longer
Charging batteries in compatible chargers, keeping antennas firmly screwed on, cleaning contacts and sending radios that have fallen into water or have low audio to technical service are simple measures that extend Hytera digital radios’ working life. In fleets, periodic inspections prevent surprises on critical operating days.
Warranty and support after purchase
Hytera radios sold by ABC Mais Telecom follow the manufacturer’s warranty terms, specified in the proposal. Outside warranty, technical service continues supporting the fleet with repairs, battery replacement, reprogramming and preventive maintenance. For companies with many radios, periodic inspections keep the fleet available on critical operating days.
