Frequently asked questions
What is the original Motorola DEP550?
This page covers the original DEP550 without a display, not DEP550e. The data sheet confirms sixteen channels, DMR and analog modes, VHF or UHF versions, voice announcements, intelligent audio and IP55. The model is assessed as an installed or legacy fleet: frequency, serial number, firmware, programming and battery must be identified. ABC does not promise future availability of new radios, parts or a factory warranty without confirmation.
Which frequency bands are available?
The VHF version covers one hundred thirty-six to one hundred seventy-four megahertz, with up to five watts; the UHF covers four hundred three to five hundred twelve megahertz, with up to four watts. They are distinct variants. The label and configuration need to be checked before programming, repair or integration. DMR and analog allow gradual migration when infrastructure and parameters are compatible. Channel, color code, groups, timing and documentation belong to the actual fleet, not to the DEP550 name alone.
What is the protection rating of the DEP550?
The data sheet declares IP55 and MIL-STD eight hundred ten C to G. IP55 describes protection against dust and water jets under test conditions, not submersion. Temperature, drops, wear, repairs, sealing and connectors influence the old unit. MIL-STD does not mean indestructibility. Depth and weight vary with the battery; weight is approximately between two hundred sixty-five and two hundred eighty-five grams. Housing, buttons, antenna, connector and signs of moisture must be inspected.
Does the DEP550 have a display?
The original DEP550 does not have a display. Operation uses selector, programmable buttons and voice confirmation. Voice announcement helps identify channels and functions, but does not replace fleet documentation. The absence of a screen is not a flaw. The data sheet confirms sixteen channels, intelligent audio and noise suppression. For a consistent experience, channel names, buttons, volume, alerts and DMR or analog parameters must be programmed and documented in a controlled manner.
How does intelligent audio work?
Intelligent audio adjusts volume according to noise, and the data sheet publishes background noise suppression. Result depends on speaker, microphone, accessory, programming, signal and condition. The PMNN4407 has one thousand five hundred milliampere-hours; the PMNN4409, two thousand one hundred fifty. With PMNN4409, the data sheet declares up to eleven point five hours in analog and sixteen point five in digital. Values do not guarantee aged battery. Code, chemistry, voltage, fit and charger need to be confirmed.
How to request a technical evaluation?
ABC can assess programming, diagnosis and maintenance according to generation, band and condition. Service starts with the label, VHF or UHF band, battery, accessories, symptoms and current configuration. For legacy equipment, parts, battery capacity and repair are checked case by case. ABC does not confuse the DEP550 with the DEP550e and only states Anatel approval after examining the unit.
